Intro. Type of pockets

A pocket is a shaped piece of fabric set either on the outside of a garment or into a garment seam or opening. Used as a decorative detail to carry small articles, such as handkerchiefs or coins.

Pockets are the most obvious details on men's and women's garments. Besides being functional, they add style to the design of the garment.Pockets are designed in a variety of sizes and shapes and can be applied to the outside of the garment or sewn into the garment itself (for example, welt or buttonhole pocket). The special method of application required for each type of pocket.

There are four main types of pockets:

The patch pocket is stitched to the surface of the garment. It can have a rounded or square corners at the base. A patched flap for the pocket can be made in the same way. Patch pockets can be styled into skirts, pants, blouses, shirts, jackets, or coats.
