Stay Stitching

Stay stitching is plain machine stitching that is done on the stitchline before the garment is assembled. It is used to maintain the original shape of the garment pieces and prevent stretching, which is especially necessary in necklines.

Tip: Place your index finger behind the foot as you sew to prevent the seam from stretching out the original shape of the fabric.
