Hemming. Catch Stitch
A catch stitch is a hand-worked, short backstitch, taken alternately from left to right, ply to ply, to form a close cross-stitch.

Take a small, horizontal stitch in the garment, from right to left, near the edge of the hem.
Pick up a thread of the garment diagonally, below and to the right of the first stitch.
Continue to stitch in this zig-zag pattern until the hem is finished.
