Learning Quality in Workmanship

Students of our Dearborn International Friendship Center and neighboring communities have begun the industrial sewing training at community college partner, Wayne County Community College – Eastern District.
In preparation for working with our employment partner, TD Industrial Coverings, students are focusing on problem-solving, accuracy and speed, but especially quality.
Amazingly, for some students who have never sewn before, they are creating complete bags, from cutting out to finishing with a lining all in a little less than 2 hours!
Phenomenal instructor, Mila Pershyna, a designer herself who has worked with many well-known brands and fashions houses, the founder of MP Global Foundation, and happens to have been recently crowned as Mrs. USA, 2022, empowers the women she trains to discover their own solutions to design problems, be creative and be productive and efficient.
“I need them to be able to figure it out if I’m not there and find a solution for making it work”, says Mila, one of the goals for HCB to empower the refugee and immigrant communities we serve.
